Two Solitudes

There are places that no longer exist, yet we continue to carry them within us. Not as memories, but as quiet ruins. Once, there were voices here, hands that reached without hesitation, eyes that recognized themselves in another. Now, there is only the space they left behind—a silence that has learned our names better than we ever learned each other’s.

Love rarely disappears all at once. It fades into distance, settles into the cracks of memory, and slowly becomes nothing more than absence. What remains is neither tenderness nor resentment, but the fragile evidence that something beautiful once stood here before time covered it with dust.

Perhaps every ending leaves behind two solitudes—not because people stop loving, but because there comes a moment when the road back no longer exists. There are only two lives, walking in different directions, carrying the same silence in different ways.
